If you feel like you’re working all the time, even after you’ve left the office, you’re definitely not alone. A new survey from Good Technology revealed that 80% of Americans work up to an extra 30 hours each month after leaving the office. If you’re working outside of regular office hours anyway, maybe that would be a good time to do some internet marketing . . . or is it?
Unfortunately, like with any aspect of internet marketing, there is no catch-all solution—a lot depends on what type of business you have and what type of customers you’re trying to reach. But here are a few tips for how you could capitalize on peak internet usage times:
When should you post on Facebook and Twitter?
A 2010 study from Vitrue.com revealed that Facebook activity peaks at 3:00pm ET on weekdays. Wednesdays are the busiest overall, and Sundays are slowest. Interestingly, the opposite is true of Twitter—a study by BuddyMedia.com found that weekends are the best time for brands to engage with their followers by tweeting.
When should you send emails and mobile ads?
The average person checks email on their phone at about 7:00am. In general, your goal should be to be at the top of their inbox as soon as they open it each day—so send at about 6:00am. However, if you are sending a message that is meant for a certain time of day (like advertising that scrumptious new cheeseburger you’ll be serving for lunch at your diner), hitting your audience right before that time could result in greater success. Mobile usage in general also tends to peak around lunchtime.
What time of day do you put your internet marketing into high gear, sending emails, tweets, Facebook posts, and mobile ads? Has it been successful?
